Repairs & Diagnostics

Why Does My Borehole Pump Keep Tripping?

Repeated tripping is a symptom, not a diagnosis. Replacing the pump without finding the cause can result in the same fault returning.

Electrical causes

Low or unstable voltage, damaged cables, poor terminations, overload, short circuits and motor winding problems can all operate protective devices.

Hydraulic and mechanical causes

A blocked pump, worn bearings, incorrect operating conditions, excessive head or poor cooling can increase motor load and cause protection to trip.

Controller and solar-system faults

For solar pumping systems, controller configuration, insufficient DC voltage, protection settings, sensors or array faults can also interrupt operation.

Current measurements, insulation testing, controller fault history and pump operating data help identify the real cause before equipment is replaced.
