Borehole Solutions

From the water source to reliable supply.

Borehole drilling, test pumping, equipping, solarization, storage, water treatment and technical support designed as one complete water system.

Find the Water

Establish and construct a suitable water source.

Move the Water

Size the pump, power source, pipework and storage correctly.

Make the Water Usable

Test and treat the water where its quality requires it.

Complete Borehole Services

More than drilling a hole in the ground.

The final objective is reliable water delivery. Every stage affects what comes next.

01

Borehole Assessment

Review the proposed water requirement, site conditions and available borehole information before equipment is selected.

02

Borehole Drilling

Drilling and construction planned around geological conditions, required depth, casing requirements and development of the water source.

03

Test Pumping

Establish borehole yield, pumping water level, drawdown and recovery behaviour before permanent pump selection.

04

Pump Selection & Equipping

Select the pump, motor, cable, pipework, controls and protection from the actual hydraulic duty.

05

Borehole Solarization

Solarize compatible borehole pumping systems using correctly sized PV arrays, pumping controllers and protection.

06

Water Analysis

Laboratory water results help determine whether treatment is required before domestic, commercial or process use.

07

Storage & Distribution

Integrate tanks, reservoirs, level controls and distribution requirements into the complete water system.

08

Rehabilitation & Repairs

Assess existing boreholes with poor output, failed pumps, motor faults, controller faults or declining performance.

Test Pumping

The test-pumping report is one of the most important documents in pump selection.

It helps us understand how the borehole behaves while water is being abstracted and provides the basis for choosing a sustainable pump duty.

Borehole Engineering

Depth is only one part of the design.

Two boreholes with the same depth can require very different pumps because their water levels, yields, delivery points and daily water requirements are different.

Borehole Yield

The pump should not be selected to continuously abstract more water than the borehole can sustainably supply.

Pumping Water Level

The operating water level is more important to pump sizing than total borehole depth alone.

Required Flow

The system must deliver enough water to satisfy daily demand within the available pumping period.

Delivery Head

Elevation, tank height, pipe distance and friction must be included in the total dynamic head.

Water Storage

Correctly sized storage helps balance borehole yield, daily demand and solar pumping hours.

Water Quality

Water may need filtration, softening, iron removal, reverse osmosis or disinfection depending on laboratory results.

Complete Water Infrastructure

One borehole can connect several SolarAxis solutions.

Existing Borehole Problems

Low water? Pump tripping? Motor failure?

Replacing the pump immediately may not solve the underlying problem. We can first assess the borehole, pump, motor, controller, pipework and power system.

Borehole Repairs & Diagnostics

Common symptoms:

  • ●Pump runs but little or no water reaches the tank
  • ●Pump repeatedly trips
  • ●Motor draws excessive current
  • ●Water output has reduced over time
  • ●Solar pump only operates for short periods
  • ●Pump controller displays faults
  • ●Borehole no longer meets daily demand

Borehole Questions

Important things to know before equipping a borehole.

Can a pump be selected using borehole depth only?

No. Total depth alone does not define the pump duty. Pumping water level, required flow, delivery elevation, tank height and pipe friction are also important.

Why is test pumping important?

Test pumping provides information on borehole yield, drawdown, pumping water level and recovery. These values help determine a sustainable abstraction rate and the correct pump operating point.

Can an existing borehole be solarized?

Yes, many existing systems can be solarized. The existing pump and motor, controller requirements, hydraulic duty and solar array requirements must first be checked.

Does borehole water always require treatment?

No. Treatment should be based on laboratory water analysis and the intended use of the water. Different contaminants require different treatment processes.

What if my existing borehole produces less water than before?

The cause may involve the borehole itself, falling water levels, pump wear, pipework, electrical problems, controller settings or changes in system demand. Diagnosis should come before replacing equipment.
